Environmental Policy

A love, deep admiration for mother earth and a vision of a sustainable future, I'm passionate about reducing my waste and behaving in a way that is as environmentally responsible as possible.

My jewellery pieces are considered and designed to be timeless and to be pass to future generations, as that precious jewellery full of memories and great intentions, that you always want to remember and have them with you. When some pieces remain in the store for a while, the components are reused in new designs. Not a single piece of jewellery ever goes to waste.

I believe my impact on our environment should be as minimal as possible. I'm aiming to be free from use plastic during next year or so. Working on the use of recycled packaging, printed materials made from recycled cards, crafted from fully recycled materials and so on. Glad to say that my dispatch materials are made from recycled materials and are biodegradable.

I use Aluminium foil for packaging. It is endlessly recyclable and can be reformed into thousands of different items without the need for any new material. Making products from recycled aluminium uses only five per cent of the energy it takes to make new foil from raw materials.

- ABOUT MATERIALS

At YŪRE, I look into each component of my designs. The majority of my gemstones, beads and crystals, are sourced from a Spanish family business, who has been into the crystals business for over 40 years. About the metals, I use three different companies; two of them are located here in the UK, and the third one is a small family business located in Poland, I love their handmade sterling silver art work.

- ASSEMBLY

All YŪRE jewellery is produced and assembled in London, England, by me.

- METALS

  • STERLING SILVER

The silver I use in my jewellery is high-quality. It contains 92.5% pure silver and 7.5% other metals, usually copper. The cooper used is 100% nickel-free. Like all silver jewellery, it will tarnish over time. Any darkening or discolouration that occurs is usually caused by oxidation. It is normal and will happen to all brass or silver jewellery over time.

To clean recycled sterling silver jewellery I recommend using polishing paper. Please note that the matte finish might become shinier when using polishing paper.

  • 14K GOLD

I use 14K solid gold jewellery findings and components in some of the pieces. The company I use supply conflict-free and recycled gold. Hopefully, with the pass of the time, I will be able to use with 14K gold in more of my designs. At the moment, I only include 14K gold in few pieces.

  • GOLD FILLED, SOLID LAYER OF GOLD (14K)

The gold filled or "rolled gold" I use comprises a solid layer of gold (14k) permanently bonded to a base metal, such as brass. The minimum layer of gold must equal at least 1/20th the weight of the total item. It is very hard wearing and under normal wear the gold will not peel or flake, unlike gold plate, and is commonly used as a more economical alternative to pure gold.

  • GOLD VERMEIL

Gold vermeil is sterling silver plated with gold or rose gold. I rarely use this one on my designs.

  • ROSE GOLD FILLED

I also use rose gold filled in some of the designs. It comprises a solid layer of gold (14k) permanently bonded to a base metal, such as brass. The rose colour is obtained by alloying gold with copper. The minimum layer of gold must equal at least 1/20th the weight of the total item. It is very hard wearing and under normal wear the gold will not peel or flake, unlike gold plate, and is commonly used as a more economical alternative to pure gold.
